What is RSS?RSS saves you time. The letters stand for Really Simple Syndication. When websites you are interested in have new content, RSS delivers it direct to you. These are known as RSS feeds or news feeds.
Using RSS, you can get the latest headlines and articles (even audio files, photographs or video) in one place, as soon as they are published. You do not have to visit the sites they come from.
How can I use RSS? To use RSS, you need a separate RSS news reader that allows you to collect and display your RSS feeds.
If you do not have an RSS reader, we recommend Feedreader. It is free and can be downloaded as follows.
1. Go to the download page * 2. Select the nearest download location and click on the download icon on the right (in the 'Download' column) 3. Save the file to your desktop or any other easily accessible location 4. Double-click on the file and follow the installation instructions
Note: If you access the internet via a proxy, you may need to enter this into your RSS reader. If you are not sure, please contact your local system administrator or IT support desk.
How do I choose which feeds to receive? Once you have a reader, you can decide what content you want to receive by finding and subscribing to the relevant RSS feeds.
How do I download RSS feeds? The method for downloading an RSS feed depends on the reader you select. RSS feeds are flagged with an orange button showing the letters RSS.
